MONARCH
The Monarch butterfly is a beautiful creation although lives for merely two to six weeks. It lives, it mates, it flies freely. A Monarch dies when they get 'old' just like people do. Life is short but they live like there is no tomorrow, gracefully with freedom. An ode to making the most of a short life MONARCH is a free-form style ballad duet featuring Julie's mum (aged 77).

LYRICS
My mother said:
Life is short, don't be afraid to follow your dreams, do it while you can
Never regret the things that you've done
Or go to your grave wishing "if only I had"
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment
It's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
My mother said:
You can't change the world so change your OWN world
The only failure you can have is the failure to try
So hold on to true love and treasure it
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment
It's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
...Where you don't waste a moment
Monarch in the garden in the setting sun
Life is nearly over when it's just begun
Didn't know how beautiful it was
But I do
My mother said:
You are braver than you think, stronger than you seem
Much smarter than you believe, so don't stop pedalling
Life's too short, way too short
Monarch in the garden in the setting sun
Life is nearly over when it's just begun
Didn't know how beautiful it was
But I do
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment, it's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
Where you don't waste a moment

SORRY
Not a typical OLDER track: not sarcastic nor observational, SORRY is a solitary thought, a private reflection. Written before the internet (yes kids, there was a time) and reworked, if in a solemn mood - it may be appropriate to turn up, with the lights dimmed, over a stiff whisky.

LYRICS
I could cry until the sun comes up again
Maybe the sun will never
I could sleep until the morning comes around
Maybe the morning will not ever
Just to let you know I'm sorry
I'm sorry
Maybe I need to write a letter
Open up lines of communication
Maybe you're ready to believe
I've suffered hard for what I did
I could cry until the sun comes up again
Maybe the sun will never
I could sleep until the morning comes around
Maybe the morning will not ever
Just to let you know I'm sorry
I'm sorry
Sorry
I'm so sorry
So sorry
I'm so sorry
Maybe I need to make a call
Out of the blue to talk to you
Maybe you're open to my voice
I've paid the price for my choice
Sorry
I'm so sorry
So sorry
I'm so sorry
So sorry

SLOW BLINK
JEL on the music: I imagined an isolated town dying on its feet with a single woman living there, no chance of meeting someone locally; going to the city on a mission to find someone and having no luck; always waking up in a retched lonely place. Think Alaska. Think tumbleweed.
JULIE on the lyrics: This one was inspired by a film script, not one in particular. Regardless of the storyline, there seemed a lot to say through a camera lens: the panning, the fading down, the odd comment thrown in by the director, the strange and incidental angles the camera picks up in an art house film. Yep, weird. I know.
It all started with a riff, actually.

LYRICS
Rolling eyes to the west
Slow blink (beautiful darling)
Blank stare and nod and away
Que the nightfall, bravado *splays*
Spills into the morning
Waiting for your soul to find you
No Miss Underestimated
Tears tips off Friday night nails
Molitof *swirl*
Where is your Gabriel?
Changing mind, altered view
(Repress) drowning baby
Centre stage, solo scene
(and fade)
Que the end game
Mascara fail
Seeps into the sidewalk *hail*
Waiting for your soul to find you
No Miss Underestimated
Tears tips off Friday night nails
Molitof *swirl*
Where is your Gabriel tonight?
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
Taxi to the city
No one shares your ride
The lights and sounds have faded to
An emptiness inside
(He) didn't keep your number
You know he'll never phone
Tomorrow you'll be facing another day alone
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
Everything is beautiful tonight my darling Gabriel
