MONARCH
The Monarch butterfly is a beautiful creation although lives for merely two to six weeks. It lives, it mates, it flies freely. A Monarch dies when they get 'old' just like people do. Life is short but they live like there is no tomorrow, gracefully with freedom. An ode to making the most of a short life MONARCH is a free-form style ballad duet featuring Julie's mum (aged 77).

LYRICS
My mother said:
Life is short, don't be afraid to follow your dreams, do it while you can
Never regret the things that you've done
Or go to your grave wishing "if only I had"
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment
It's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
My mother said:
You can't change the world so change your OWN world
The only failure you can have is the failure to try
So hold on to true love and treasure it
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment
It's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
...Where you don't waste a moment
Monarch in the garden in the setting sun
Life is nearly over when it's just begun
Didn't know how beautiful it was
But I do
My mother said:
You are braver than you think, stronger than you seem
Much smarter than you believe, so don't stop pedalling
Life's too short, way too short
Monarch in the garden in the setting sun
Life is nearly over when it's just begun
Didn't know how beautiful it was
But I do
My mother said:
Don't waste a moment, it's a fine old world when you find the key
So spread your wings and fly above the rooftops
Where you don't waste a moment
